Live Music Portfolio

For Sam, music has always been a fully immersive experience, forming a life narrative and obsession. From the days of sitting by the tape recorder, waiting to capture that perfect song off the radio, to the raw energy of live gigs, music has shaped her world.

Her journey began in the thick, humid air of Rio, which was filled with samba and enticing foreign bands such as The Cure, Iggy Pop, The Mission UK, and Whitenoize. The early 1980s were marked by the first-ever Rock in Rio, Ronald Biggs, Cubatão, lemon lace, and neon.

Then came San Francisco in the late ‘80s, with sweaty nights at The Stone and The Omni and more hairspray than sense. Here, Sam witnessed the birth of Soundgarden, Faith No More, and those now-classic icons before they were legends. The city pulsed with gritty, electric energy, delivered by legends and wannabe’s in Lip Service leggings, cowboy accessories, tasselled leather jackets, and big hair. This was when Sam put pen to paper for the iconic Face-it Magazine, sharing thoughts and reflections on music, fashion and everything in between.

Since then, the pen has made way for the camera, and she’s captured the essence of festivals across the UK and Australia, each frame narrating a tale of sound, movement, and atmosphere. Sam isn’t sure what she loves more—the music or the photography. But for her, they are inseparable. It’s about immortalising moments, capturing movement within a two-dimensional frame, and sharing the raw energy of live music in a way that makes you feel like you were there. And honestly? It’s simply a whole lot of fun.
