Clinical Supervision
Clinical supervision provides dedicated space to pause and think carefully about client material, professional practice and the emotional demands of therapeutic roles. It strengthens clinical understanding, ethical decision-making and ongoing professional development.
For many therapists and practitioners, regular supervision is also a professional requirement. It is a collaborative, reflective relationship where questions, uncertainty, complexity and professional responsibility can be explored, alongside the relational dynamics that arise across therapeutic, educational and community settings.
Supervision with Sam
Sam is an experienced clinical supervisor with additional training in arts-based supervision recognised by ANZACATA, the peak professional body for creative arts therapists in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific region.
Supervision is grounded in a trauma-responsive, relational and creative arts therapy framework. It is informed by art psychotherapy, psychodynamic and relational thinking, reflective practice, specialist education and experience across clinical, school and community settings.
Sessions are shaped around each supervisee’s needs and may include conversation, art-making, metaphor, image-based reflection and practical problem-solving. There is space to explore client material and therapeutic relationships, professional identity, uncertainty, ethical or practical questions, documentation, boundaries, risk and wider service systems.
Supervision offers an opportunity to slow down, consider different perspectives and reflect without judgement. The aim is to help practitioners feel grounded and well-equipped while strengthening clarity, confidence and professional sustainability.
Supervision hours and CPD
Supervision with Sam may contribute towards ANZACATA or PACFA professional supervision requirements, depending on the practitioner’s registration category and current professional body requirements.
ACA members and practitioners registered with other professional bodies should confirm that the supervision arrangement meets their association’s requirements before booking.
For allied health professionals, interdisciplinary supervision may also contribute to CPD when it supports reflective practice, clinical knowledge, cross-disciplinary collaboration or holistic care. Practitioners should confirm and record this in accordance with their own professional body’s requirements.
